주민의 순찰활동인식이 범죄예방활동 참여정도에 미치는 영향

지역사회 경찰활동(Community Policing)이라는 개념은 현대 경찰이 지향하는 방향 중 하나이며, 우리나라뿐만이 아닌 세계 공통적으로 적용되는 개념으로서 많은 국가들이 이에 관한 연구를 하고 있다. 특히 지역사회 경찰활동에서의 핵심인 순찰활동은 예로부터 범죄억제효과의 여부 등과 같은 주제로 연구되었으며, 최근에는 순찰활동이 제3자의 범죄예방 참여정도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 연구 또한 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 이에 대해 이 연구에서는 주민의 순찰활동인식을 독립변수로 범죄예방활동 참여정도를 종속변수로 설정하여 어떠한 관계인지 파악했으며, 그 관계에서 범죄두려움과 거주환경인식이 조절변수로서 유의미하게 둘의 관계를 조절할 것인지 파악했다. 데이터는 한국형사정책연구원에서 수집된 「지역사회의 범죄위험에 관한 조사」(2012)이며 분석을 위해 선형회귀분석을 사용했으며, 조절변수를 투입하기 위해 위계적 다중회귀분석을 사용했다. 분석 전반은 SPSS 23 통계프로그램을 통해 진행되었다. 분석결과는 첫 번째로, 순찰활동인식이 범죄예방활동 참여정도에 유의미하게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 두 번째로 순찰활동인식과 범죄예방활동 참여정도간의 관계를 범죄두려움이 유의미하게 조절하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 순찰활동인식과 범죄예방활동 참여정도간의 관계를 거주환경인식이 유의미하게 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 범죄예방활동 참여정도를 증가시키기 위해 순찰활동에 대한 인식을 증가시켜야할 필요가 있다는 것을 시사하며, 이 과정 속에서 순찰활동인식이 범죄예방활동 참여정도에 미치는 영향력을 증대시키기 위해 해당 거주 지역의 거주민들의 거주환경인식에 대해서도 제고할 필요가 있다는 것을 보여준다.
Abstract
The concept of Community Policing is one of the directions pursued by modern police, and many countries are doing research on it as a common concept in the world, not just in our country. In particular, patrol activities, which are keyword in community police activities, have been studied from time to time on topics such as whether there is a crime prevention effect, and in recent years, research on how patrol activities affect the degree of participation in crime prevention by third parties(person) has also been actively conducted. In this study, the study identified patrol activity as an independent variable and the degree of participation in crime prevention activities as a dependent variable to determine what the relationship between two variables is. And also, in that relationship, we set as a hypothesis whether fear of crime and awareness of habitable environment would significantly control the relationship between the two variables as control variable. The data was collected in the Korean Institute of Criminology (2012) and used linear regression analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis to add control variables. The overall analysis was conducted through the SPSS 23 statistical program. First, it was found that the awareness of patrol activities significantly affects the degree of participation in crime prevention activities. Second, it was found that fear of crime does not significantly control the relationship between the awareness of patrol activities and the degree of participation in criminal prevention activities. Finally, it was found that only awareness of habitable environment significantly adjusts the relationship between the awareness of patrol activities and the degree of participation in crime prevention activities. These results suggest that it is important to increase awareness of patrol activities in an effort to increase participation in crime prevention activities, and show that in this process it is also important to raise the awareness of habitable environment within residents.
