조선 후기 장편 군담소설의 창작 과정 연구 ─허인전 정고와 초고에 관한 비교를 중심으로─

Abstract

This study examined Heo-in jeon, a 19th-century long martial novel that has not yet been studied well. First, two types of Heo-in jeon were classified into the revised version and the draft version through the modified contents, the conversion of Korean vocabulary into Chinese characters, and the emergence of words that break the narrative flow. By comparing the two, this study investigated how the full-length martial novel was created, and inferred the internal meaning of the creative contents in the novel and in the history of the novel. As a result, this study could extract creative aspects such as the addition of a relationship narrative and an assassination narrative, and the strengthening of heroism, which were considered to enhance interest and quality of the novel. Furthermore, this study derived that the creative aspects harnessed the narrative grammar of the novels of the late Joseon Dynasty in principle, but were based on the method of revealing the individuality of the work in the detailed expression. At the end of this study, the production period of Heo-in jeon was estimated to be the 19th century based on the similarity between Heo-in jeon and Okrumong.
