본 연구는 2000년 1월부터 최근 2024년 9월까지 월별자료를 활용하여 국제 유가변동과 탱커선 시장의 이중구조를 분석한다. 수익과 비용 모두에 영향을 미치는 국제유가의 이중 위험 구조를 분석하기 위해 본 연구는 기존의 정태적 모형과 비대칭 동태적 공적분 분석으로 확장하여 다음 두 가지 측면의 학술적 기여를 제시한다. 첫째, 선형모형에 기초한 분석은 통계적으로 유의미한 관계를 밝히지 못했지만, 동태적 비대칭 분석은 장기균형이 존재함을 명확하게 제시한다. 둘째, 석유 공급 충격이 가격 변화 방향에 따라 운임에 다르게 영향을 미치는 시장의 이중구조가 정(+)과 부(-)의 크기와 지속 정도에 따라 비대칭성으로 나타남을 제시한다. 본 연구는 이러한 유가 충격의 이중구조에서 나타나는 비대칭성을 탱커 시장에 포함하는 이론적 확장을 향후 해운산업 분석에 통합할 것을 제안한다.
Abstract
This study examines the dual structure of worldwide oil price fluctuations and the tanker market based on monthly data from January 2000 to September 2024. This work offers two academic contributions by enhancing the previous static model and employing asymmetric dynamic cointegration analysis to examine the dual risk structure of international oil prices that impacts both income and costs. The analysis utilising the linear model did not indicate a statistically significant link; nevertheless, the dynamic asymmetry analysis distinctly implies the presence of a long-term equilibrium. The dual structure of the market reveals that oil supply shocks influence freight rates asymmetrically, contingent upon the magnitude and length of both positive and negative price fluctuations. This study advocates for the incorporation of the theoretical extension addressing the asymmetry of the dual structure of oil price shocks within the tanker market into forthcoming evaluations of the shipping sector.
