청소년의 기질, 부모 애착과 우울

Effects of Adolescent Temperament and Parent-child Attachment on Depression

초록

본 연구는 청소년의 기질, 부모 애착, 우울 정도를 확인하고, 이변인들 간의 관련성을 규명하기 위한 서술적 조사연구이다. 연구대상자는 서울특별시, 경기도에 소재한 2개 중학교에서 2학년 남학생 292명, 여학생 208명으로 자료 수집 기간은 2011년 9월 1일부터 29일까지였다. 본 연구에서는 청소년 대상자의 18.8%가 중등도 우울이었고,우울 평균은 14.95 (± 7.32)점이었다. 성별에 따른 기질, 부모 애착,우울정도의 차이는 하부기질 중 위험회피, 사회적 민감성이 여학생이 남학생보다 높고, 통계적으로 유의하였으나(t = -3.24, p= .001;t = -8.88, p < .001), 부모 애착과 우울은 유의한 차이가 없었다. 청소년의 기질을 하부기질에 따라 군집 분석하여 위험회피 기질이높고 사회적 민감성 및 인내력이 낮은 ‘적응 취약군’과 위험회피 기질이 낮고 사회적 민감성 및 인내력이 높은 ‘적응 보호군’으로 나누었다. 기질유형은 부모 애착(t = -3.40, p = .002)과 우울(t = 8.35, p <.001)에 있어 유의하였고, 적응 취약군이 적응 보호군 보다 낮은애착수준과 높은 우울수준을 나타났다. 하부기질과 부모 애착 및우울 간의 상관관계에는 하부기질인 자극추구와 위험회피는 우울과는 유의한 정적 상관이 있었고, 애착과는 유의한 부적 상관이있었다. 반대로 사회적 민감성과 인내력은 애착과는 유의한 정적상관이 있었고, 우울과는 유의한 부적 상관이 있었다. 우울과 부모 애착은 유의한 부적 상관(r = -453, p < .001)이 있었다. 이는 부모 애착 수준이 높을수록 우울 수준이 낮음을 알 수 있다. 결론적으로 적응 보호군에 비해 적응 취약군이 중등도 우울 집단일 위험도는 2.162배 높고, 부모 애착수준이 높을수록 중등도 우울 위험도가 낮다고 파악되었다. 본 연구를 통해 청소년의 기질, 부모 애착과 우울을 살펴봄으로써, 상담 및 교육을 위한 구체적이고 실질적인 기초자료를 확대하였고, 우울을 예방하고 완화하기 위한 중재프로그램의 개발의 주요 구성요인으로 활용될 것으로 사료된다.

Abstract

Purpose: This study was done to examine levels of temperament, parent-child attachment and depression of adolescents and verify its effects. Methods: Surveys were conducted with 500 students from two middle schools, one located in Seoul and one in Gyeonggi Province. Adolescent temperament was measured using the Junior Temperament and Character Inventory, parentchild attachment using the Revised Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment and depression using the Children’s Depression Inventory. Cluster, t-test, correlation and logistic regression were used for data analysis. Results: Characteristics of temperament were classified into 2 groups. The ‘Adaptation vulnerable group’ showed high Harm Avoidance and the ‘Adaptation protective group’ showed high Reward Dependence, and Patience. The ‘Adaptation vulnerable group’ showed lower attachment and higher depression than the ‘Adaptation protective group’. Novelty Seeking and Harm Avoidance correlated positively with depression and negatively with attachment. Students with higher levels of attachment reported lower levels of depression. The logistic regression analysis showed that the ‘Adaptation vulnerable group’ was 2.16 times more likely to be affected by depression than ‘Adaptation protective group’. Conclusion: Results of this study can be used to develop depression intervention programs for adolescent psychological health and provide encouragement in the development of parent-child attachment.
