빈곤아동의 심리사회적 적응 향상을 위한 해결중심집단프로그램의 효과성 연구

초록

본 연구에서는 빈곤아동의 심리사회적 적응력 향상을 위해, 구체적으로는 공격성 감소, 자존감과 의사소통능력 향상을 위해 해결중심집단프로그램을 개발하고 실시하여 프로그램의 효과성을 연구하고자 하였다. 서울지역 네 군데 지역아동센터에서 8세-12세 남녀 아동 28명이 1주에 1회씩 8주에 걸쳐 프로그램에 참여하였고 사전-사후 검사와 Wilcoxon 부호순위검정을 통하여 프로그램의 효과성을 검증하였다. 아동의 공격성이 감소되었고, 자존감과 의사소통 능력이 향상되어서, 해결중심 집단프로그램이 빈곤아동의 심리사회적 적응을 위한 보호요인이 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Abstract

This study evaluated the effectiveness of an 8-week solution-focused group program to improve the psycho-social adaptability of children in poverty. A convenience sample of children 8 to 11years old from low income families were recruited through 4 community after-school programs in Seoul, Korea. A total of 28 children completed pre and post tests, including measures of self-esteem, aggressiveness, and communication abilities. Results demonstrated that the program was effective in raising the children’s self-esteem, enhancing their communication abilities, and reducing their aggressiveness. The present study suggests that solution-focused group programs such as the one developed in this study can significantly help with the socio-emotional problems of children from low income families.
