성폭력 경험 여성의 용서과정에 관한 연구

초록

본 연구의 목적은 성폭력 경험 여성의 용서 과정을 심도 있게 검토하여 용서 유형과 결과에 대한 실체이론을 개발하는 데 있다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위한 연구문제는 “성폭력 경험 여성의 용서과정은 어떠한가?”로 용서를 통해 아픔을 풀어내는 과정에 대한 통찰력을 기반으로 진정한 회복을 돕기 위한 효율적 대안을 마련하고자 하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 심한 성폭력을 경험한 20대에서 40대 여성 10명을 대상으로 Strauss와 Corbin(1998)의 근거이론방법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 성폭력 경험 여성의 용서과정의 핵심범주는 ‘애도 속에서 찾은 희망을 부여잡고 진정한 자유 누리기’로 건강한 애도를 경험하면서 용서를 통해 회복을 경험하게 된다. 용서과정 단계를 분석한 결과 ‘상처에 갇혀 살아가기’, ‘애도 속에서 희망 키우기’, ‘의미 찾아가기’, ‘자유로워지기’ 단계로 도출되었으며, 용서과정 유형은 ‘고군분투형’, ‘상처수용형’, ‘의미재구성형’의 세 가지로 구분되었다. 전체적으로 성폭력 경험 여성의 용서과정은 피해자에서 생존자 그리고 경험자의 정체성 변화가 진행되는 회복과정과 맥을 같이 하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 성폭력 피해 여성을 돕기 위한 전문적 가족치료의 실천 지침 및 기초자료를 제공하는 데에 의의가 있으며, 용서에 대한 실천적, 이론적 논의를 제시하였다.

Abstract

Objectives: The objective of this study is to develop the practical theory on the types of forgiveness process and the results by performing an in-depth review on the forgiveness process of women who were sexually abused. Methods: With the question “What is the forgiveness process of sexually violence women?,” the study suggested effective plans to help genuine recovery based on the insight into the process of relieving pain through forgiveness. For this purpose, a total 10 women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who experienced serious sexual violence were targeted, and an analysis was performed by applying the grounded theory method by Strauss and Corbin (1998). Results: According to the result, the main category of the forgiveness process was “enjoying the real freedom by holding onto the hope found in the grief”; through healthy grief, they experience forgiveness and ultimately real freedom. Through an analysis on the steps of forgiveness process, the study found that the steps were in the sequence of: “living trapped in pain,” “finding hope in grief,” “discovering meanings,” and “becoming free.” Different types of forgiveness strategy were categorized into “struggling,” “accepting the pain,” and “reproducing the meaning.” Overall, the forgiveness process of women who were sexually assaulted shares the same aspect as the recovery processes, in which an identity change occurs: a transition from a victim to a survivor to an experiencer. Conclusions: This study is meaningful as it provides fundamental resources and practice guidelines for professional family therapy to help women who experienced sexual violence. The study also presents practical and theoretical discussion on forgiveness in the conclusion and proposal.
