본 연구의 목적은 한 재혼가정 이십대 성인자녀의 내러티브 정체성 즉, 삶에 대한 이야기를 통하여 구성된 정체성을 탐색하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 내러티브 탐구방법을 적용하여 시간성과 상호성, 상황으로 이루어진 삼차원적 공간에서 연구참여자의 경험을 성찰하고 분석하였다. 연구결과, 연구참여자의 정체성은 삶의 시간적 흐름과 심리사회적 환경속에서, 버림받을까 불안한 ‘눈치빠른 재롱둥이’, 어느 집 딸이어야 하는지 고민하는 ‘외톨이’, 새로운 가정에 적응하지 못하는 ’쓸모없는 반항아’, 한 가족에 소속되었지만 ‘겉도는 딸’, 사랑을 갈구하는 ’버려진 피해자‘로 구성 되어왔고, 치열한 자기성찰경험을 통하여 당당한 완전체인 ‘또 하나의 꽃’으로 자신의 정체성을 재구성하였다. 본 연구결과는 한 개인이 부모의 이혼과 재혼으로 인하여 가족관계의 불안정과 위기, 상실 등을 경험하면서 성장하는 과정에서, 자기 삶의 주체로서 일관성 있고 통합적으로 정체성을 구성하고 재구성해 나갈 수 있도록 조력하는 것에 대한 학문적, 임상적 시사점을 제공한다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore narrative identities that emerged in the life stories of an adult who grew up in a remarried family. Methods: Field texts were constructed from in-depth interviews with a woman in her twenties. These texts were analyzed in a three-dimensional space that was constructed using narrative inquiry’s temporality, reciprocity, and situating methods. The meaning of participant’s experiences were reconstructed through the participant’s telling and retelling of her life stories naturally and spontaneously. Results: Working with her psychosocial contexts and with the flow of time of her life, the subject’s identities were changed and reconstructed from “a sloppy, cute baby” who felt abandonment anxiety, “a lonely woman” who was worried about which family she belonged to, “an abandoned victim” who longed for love, and “a useless rebel” who defied her mother after joining a new family, into “a daughter of a normal family,” and “another flower” who was a confident, integral whole. Conclusions: The narrative identities of an adult child in a remarried family were reconstructed from a “deficient victim” to a “coherent, integral whole” through the telling of her life stories in a three-dimensional narrative space.
