문화경관유산의 보존을 통한 도시의 문화적 정체성 구현: 생투앙 벼룩시장의 ZPPAUP, AVAP를 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 일상적 문화경관의 성공적 보존 사례를 연구하여 문화경관을 통해 도시의 문화적 정체성을 구현하는 방안을 고찰하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 프랑스 생투앙 벼룩시장의 문화경관 보존을 ZPPAUP, AVAP를 중심으로 분석하였는데, 특히 장소 정체성 구성요소인 물리적 환경, 활동, 의미의 세 측면에서 이 제도의 기여를 조명하였다. 먼저, 이 제도의 규칙은 엄격하게 시장과 주변 건축물의 유지·복원을 제한하여 물리적 환경의 경관이 지속되게 하였다. 다음으로, 물리적 환경의 경관 보존은 상업적 활동 경관이 일관성을 갖게 하고, 이 시장의 또 다른 정체성 요소인 집시 재즈 활동이 유지되게 하였다. 마지막으로, 물리적 환경과 활동 경관의 지속은 이 장소의 의미(‘누구나 어떤 물건이든 노천에서 팔 수 있는 장소’, ‘억압받는 소수자의 예술적 표출의 장소’)의 경관 형성에 기여하였다. 이러한 고찰로 우리는 엄격한 경관 제도의 마련과 적용, 지역 정체성과 관련된 다양한 활동의 종합적 고려, 특정 장소의 의미 도출과 그 경관의 발굴과 유지의 필요라는 시사점을 얻을 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 다루지 않은 벼룩시장 경관 활용의 고찰은 후속 연구에서 보충하고자 한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to study the case of successful conservation of ordinary cultural landscapes, and to consider methods to realize the cultural identity of cities through cultural landscapes. To this end, the preservation of cultural landscapes in the French Saint-Ouen Flea Market was analyzed centering on ZPPAUP(zones de protection du patrimoine architectural, urbain et paysager)-AVAP(aires de mise en valeur de l’architecture et du patrimoine). In particular, the contribution of this system to physical settings, activities, and meanings was highlighted. First, the rules of this system restrict the maintenance and restoration of the market area to sustain the landscape of the physical settings. Next, the landscape preservation maintained the landscapes of commercial activity and gypsy jazz activity, another identity element of this market. Finally, the continuation of the physical settings and activities landscape contributed to the formation of the meaning of this place. From these considerations, we were able to obtain implications of the necessity for preparing and applying a strict landscape system, comprehensive consideration of various activities related to regional identity, deriving the meaning of the place, and discovering and maintaining its landscape. The use of flea market landscapes not covered in this research will be studied in subsequent ones.
