본 연구는 초등학교 저학년 학부모 170명(85쌍)을 대상으로 성지식과 성교육에 대한 인식 및 실태를 비교하기 위해 수행하였다. 초등학교 저학년 학부모들의 성지식 전체에 대한 점수에서 아버지 27.74±4.94점, 어머니 28.62±4.70점으로 부모 간에 차이는 없었으나, 성지식은 어머니의 경우 직업, 교육수준, 가정의 월 소득과 관련이 있었다. 부모 모두 성교육의 필요성은 높게 인지하고 있으나 가정에서 어머니가 아버지에 비해 자녀 성교육을 위해 적극적인 태도를 가지고 있고, 성교육도 많이 실시하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 이상의 연구 결과에 따라 초등학교 저학년 자녀의 성교육을 위한 부모 교육 시 위의 특성을 고려하여 어머니를 대상으로 교육을 시행하는 것이 효과가 높을 것으로 생각된다. 특히 남아를 둔 아버지의 자녀 성교육 참여를 유도할 수 있는 차별화된 부모 교육이 필요하다.
Abstract
Purpose: This study was done to identify sexual knowledge and perception and current status of sex education among parents of first and second grade elementary school age children. Methods: Participants in the study were recruited from parents with a child in the lower grades and who resided in Seoul. From January 1 to February 28, 2011, data were collected using a self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using McNemer test, paired t-test, ANONA, and Scheffé test. Results: Mean sexual knowledge scores for fathers and mothers were 27.74±4.94, and 28.62±4.70 respectively. Parent’s sexual knowledge correlated with their occupation, education level, and family’s monthly income. Conclusion: Study results showed that both parents are aware of the need for sex education. However, at home, mothers have a more active attitude towards sex education and conduct the education more often than fathers.
