Application of Generative AI: Perspectives on Statistical Data Analysis and Academic Writing in the Social Sciences

This study explores how generative AI, particularly ChatGPT, can function as a tool for statistical data analysis and for supporting academic paper writing in social science research. First, based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study examined how perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and attitude influence behavior intention of ChatGPT. Survey data collected from 82 university students were analyzed using SmartPLS and ChatGPT. The results indicated high reliability and validity across all constructs, as well as strong explanatory power for the model. All hypotheses were supported, and ChatGPT’s analytical outcomes closely aligned with those produced by SmartPLS. Furthermore, this study confirmed that ChatGPT can assist with academic writing. Therefore, the findings suggest that the use of ChatGPT has the potential to greatly enhance accessibility and efficiency in statistical analysis and democratize social science research. However, there are limitations related to accuracy, ethics, and hallucination, necessitating the expansion of future research for further validation through comparative studies with other generative AI tools and the use of various research models.
