Abstract
Gamguneun(感君恩) is a movement composed in early Joseon and is recorded as Oeumyakbo(五音略譜) along with Hapjabo(合字譜) in Geumhapjabo(琴合字譜)(1572). It is notated only as Hapjabo in Yanggeumsinbo(梁琴新譜)(1610) and Dongdaegeumbo(東大琴譜)(1813). And it is recorded as Hapjabo and Gueumbo(口音譜) in Baekunamgeumbo (白雲巖琴譜)(1610~1680) and only as Oeumyakbo in Daeakhubo(大樂後譜) (1759). Gamguneun of Geumhapjabo‧Yanggeumsinbo‧Baekunamgeumbo‧Dongdaegeumbo is all noted as Hapjabo in the same way. In addition, because Gamguneun」 of Daeakhubo notated as Oeumyakbo has the same Oeumyakbo in two movements by the comparison with 「Gamguneun」 of Geumhapjabo in which both Oeumyakbo and Hapjabo are noted, it can be said that Gamguneun of Daeakhubo is a song with melody similar to that of Gamguneun of Geumhapjabo‧Yanggeumsinbo ‧Baekunamgeumbo‧Dongdaegeumbo. It has been known that Oeumyakbo has a single pitch that according to its notation, it goes up from Sangil(上一), Sangi(上二), Sangsam(上三), Sangsa(上四), to Sango(上五) centering around Gung(宮) and goes down from Hail(下一), Hai(下二), Hasam(下三), Hasa(下四), to Hao(下五) centering around Gung in an orderly manner. However, despite the fact that 「Gamguneun」 of Geumhapjabo‧Yanggeumsinbo‧Baekunamgeumbo‧Dongdaegeumbo and Gamguneun of Daeakhubo are the same song, Gamguneun of Daeakhubo having been interpreted so far is based on the existing interpretation of Oeumyakbo; thus, it has been interpreted differently from Gamguneun of Geumhapjabo‧Yanggeumsinbo‧Baekunamgeumbo‧Dongdaegeumbo having either Hapjabo or Gueumbo. This article reinterpreted pitch of Gamguneun of Daeakhubo only notated with Oeumyakbo by the comparison with Gamguneun of Geumhapjabo‧Yanggeumsinbo‧Baekunamgeumbo‧Dongdaegeumbo; as a result, it found that a sound of Oeumyakbo does not have a single pitch. In other words, it was found that B♭ has Gung and Hao, d has Hasa and Sangil, e♭ has two or more pitch such as Hasam and Sangi, and at the same time, Gung, Hail, Hai, and Hasam do not mean a single pitch like B♭, G, F, or E♭ but b♭, g, f, or e♭ in an octave higher. Moreover, according to the examination of the downward ending pattern, pitch of Gung-Hail-Hai-Hasam-Hasa-Hao, it was found in the ending pattern, too, that it goes down from Gung-Hail-Hai to Hasam in an octave higher and again goes down to Hasa-Hao and both Hao and Gung end as B♭ in the same way. This implies that although the typical downward ending pattern of Hyangak in Goryeo ends as Hao from the aspect of Oeumyakbo, Hao and Gung are the same sound in pitch. This is the part that has us reexamine the ending pattern of Hyangak in Gogyeo that has been studied up to now. This paper has found that interpreting pitch only with Oeumyakbo cannot be accurate but precise interpretation of pitch can be achieved only by the comparison with other movements such as Geumhapjabo noting Hapjabo or Yuljabo.
