장사시설의 선호 요인 분석 - 경기도를 중심으로 -

Abstract

This study focused on the expansion of funeral facilities according to changes in the demand for funeral culture. In 2014 the number of deaths are about 260 thousand people, and cremation rate has increased until 76.5%. Also natural burial preferred to bongan after cremation. However, the local government could not have enough and timely funeral facilities owing to various reasons. By recent amendment of the funeral law, local governments must construct the mid- to long-term expansion plan of funeral facilities in accordance with central government's plan. The local government should effectively achieve this purpose as follows ; First, recognition changes of the people about funeral facilities should be realized as no more dislike facilities. Second, socio-friendly facilities should be located in community area, in which residents could use and enjoy the facilities. Third, facilities should be managed eco friendly and if possible, redeveloped existing facilities instead of new building. Finally, the demand-oriented funeral policy will be sustainable alternative in low fertility and aging society. We used survey data 'funeral culture and facilities preference' of GRI, which was collected 1,120 people above 18 years old. in 2013. The main results of this study are as follows. Funeral method preference 'after death' is 'cemetry' 83.0% and 'cremation' 17.0%. The cremation preference are relative higher of female by sex, of lower education and of lower income respectively. On the other hand, preferred facilities 'after cremation' are natural burial 51.2%, charnel facilities 41.6% and scatter 7.2%. The natural burial preference are relative higher of female by sex and of higher age group, respectively. Finally, statistically significant influencing factors are sex, crematoria’ region and income on cremation’s preference, and then sex, age and income on preference of natural burial. Based on these results, demand-supply diagnostic results show that crematoria and natural burial facilities are absolute short supply. Therefore, the direction of expansion of the funeral facilities in Gyeonggido should be focused on crematoria and natural burial. Also, regional and central government should be sufficiently financed in order to construct and expand above facilities.
