본 논문은 수목장에 대한 국민의식 현황과 변화 경향을 진단하고 향후 정책방향을 도출하기 위하여 연구를 진행하였다. 이를 위하여 전국 장사시설 방문자 848명을 대상으로 수목장에 대한 국민의식 조사를 실시하고 선행연구와 비교를 통해 경향을 분석하였다. 조사결과 화장에 대한 선호도, 화장 이후 장법으로서 수목장에대한 선택의향, 수목장의 인지도, 선호도, 향후 참여의사가 점차 증가하여 수목장 확산의 전망이 밝은 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 선호하는 수목장지의 형태가 공공기관에서 운영하며, 자연풍치림에 조성되고, 200만원 이하의 가격으로 30~45년을 이용할 수 있는 형태임을 도출하고 이를 핵심모델로 수목장지를 공급할 것을 제언하였다. 아울러 수목장에 대한 인지도가가 낮은 20~30대와 비수도권 거주자를 대상으로 한 홍보강화와 인터넷을통한 체계적인 수목장지 정보 공급방안을 제언하였으며, 유지관리에 대한 불안감이 증가한 것과 관련하여 공설수목장지 보급 확대와 함께 사설 수목장지 운영상황을 모니터링하고 안정적인 유지관리와 합리적 가격운영을유도하는 시스템 구축을 제언하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to diagnose the current condition of and changing trend in the nation’sperception of tree burial and to draw future direction for political strategies. For the purpose of this study, weconducted a questionnaire survey targeting 848 visitors who visited funeral facilities in the country to examine thegeneral perception of tree burial and analyzed the trend by comparing the results to the previous studies done. Theresults show that there is an increasing trend in people’s preference toward cremation and tree burial as a funeralmethod that accompanies; in favorable perception and preference to tree burial; and, finally, intention to have treeburial in the future. This indicates that prospective for growth of tree burial is bright in the future. Also, it wasderived from the result that people preferred the tree burial sites be run by public organizations, made in the naturalforests, priced at 2 million won or less for use of 30 to 45 years. Based on this result, this study proposed the treeburial site with above characteristics should be used as a core model in supplying tree burial sites. Also, this studyproposed enhanced promotion of public relations for the residents in non-metropolitan areas and peoples in their20s to 30s who had low perception level about tree burial, and use of the Internet to systematically supply informationabout tree burial sites. In relation to the increasing anxiety level regarding the maintenance and management of treeburial sites, it was proposed that public tree burial sites be expanded and the system that regularly monitors privateburial sites and induces stable maintenance and reasonable pricing be established.
