滄溪 林泳 저술 번역의 현황과 과제

본고는 滄溪 林泳(1649～1696)의 문집 『창계집』 완역을 계기로 한국고전번역원에서 진행한 『창계집』의 번역 경과를 학계에 보고하고 창계 저술에 대한 번역의 현황과 과제를 검토하는 것을 목표로 설정하였다. 창계는 조선조 성리학 연구와 유학사에 커다란 족적을 남긴 대학자였음에도 그의 저술에 대한 번역과 연구는 상당히 소략한 편이다. 본고에서는 먼저 한국고전번역원 한국문집번역총서 『창계집』과는 별도로 제출되었던 창계 저술에 대한 번역 현황을 일별하여 검토한 뒤, 『창계집』과 『국역 창계집』에 대해 살펴봄으로써 그 성과와 과제를 어떻게 수용하고 개선하여, 향후 진행될 번역 사업에 기여할 수 있는 지점에 대한 고민을 공유하고자 시도하였다. 『창계집』 완역의 경험이 철학 또는 성리학자로 분류될 수 있는 문인 학자의 문헌자료 번역에 발전적 계기가 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
Abstract
This paper studies the present situation and task of translation of the works of Ch'anggye Imyŏng (1649~1696)’s which were handled by the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics to report to the academic community about the progress of 『Ch'anggyejip』’s translation. Ch'anggye Imyŏn is recognized as a great scholar of Confucianism, but the translation and research of his works is quite rare. Firstly, this paper examines the present condition of the translation of Ch'anggye’s works apart from the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics’s 『Translation Series of Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese』 『Ch'anggyejip』. And while searching between 『Ch'anggyejip』 and 『Ch'anggyejip translated in Korean』, this paper tries to share contribution points of the translation business in the future. A complete translation of 『Ch'anggyejip』 is expecting to advanced the chances for the translation of literature materials of literary scholars that are classified as philosophers or Confucian scholars.
