Abstract
One of the most important issues for the 21st century Korean economy is Free Trade Area(FTA). Especially the talk between Korea and ASEAN has started with an official agreement by their summits in December 2005. This article is an indepth study on both the possibilities and tasks of Korea-ASEAN FTA through an analysis on its political and economic variables. It will begin with reviewing how the order in the East Asia has been changed and how this negotiation developed as well. And it will find out various benefits for both parties with a successful progress of Korea-ASEAN FTA. With FTA including not only economic issues but also political ones, this study tries to pursue interdisciplinary methods. Finally, the article will conclude by proposing some solutions for an effective development of Korea-ASEAN FTA in its short and long term.
