남녀아동의 스트레스 및 정서지능과 행동문제

Relationships between Stress, Emotional Intelligence, and Behavior Problem by Child's Sex

Abstract

This study examined the relationships between child's stress, emotional intelligence, and behavior problem. The subjects for this study were 372 children of 5-6th grade selected from elementary schools in Busan. The questionnaires were child's stress by Han Mi-Hyeon(1996), emotional intelligence by Kwak, Youn-Jeong(1997), and behavior problem by Kim, Hye-Ryun(1994). Statistical techniques such as t-test, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression were used. The results were as follows: (1) Girl showed more stress than boy in the friend-related stress. Girl showed higher emotional expression, emotional empathy, emotional control than boys. Girl were higher than boy in anxious behavior and boy were higher than girls in immature behavior. (2) There were significant correlations between child's stress and behavior problem, and between child's emotional intelligence and behavior problem. The behavior problem of child were increased by child's stress and were decreased by emotional intelligence. (3) The variables that significantly predicted the boy's behavior problem were friend-related stress, teacher-related stress, parent-related stress, and emotional recognition. The influential variables for girl were emotional recognition, and study-related stress.
