초록

This study uses panel data from 30 Chinese provinces from 2005 to 2019 and employs the Spatial Durbin Model(SDM), controlling for other influencing factors. It explores the relationship between economic agglomeration and regional innovation capacity from two dimensions: industrial agglomeration and population agglomeration. The research findings are as follows: First, the results of Moran’s I test indicate that regional innovation capacity exhibits significant spatial autocorrelation, with a clear spatial agglomeration pattern and a notable spatial spillover effect. Second, a "U-shaped" relationship exists between industrial agglomeration, population agglomeration, and regional innovation capacity. Initially, agglomeration inhibits innovation capacity, but later promotes it, accompanied by a significant direct effect. Finally, enhancing informatization, strengthening financial development, improving infrastructure, promoting economic growth, and increasing foreign investment significantly boost regional innovation capacity.
