본 연구의 목적은 네팔인들의 지진 경험들을 살펴보고 그들이 지진으로 인한 트라우마를 어떻게 극복하여 외상 후 성장을 이루었는지 그와 관련한 요인들을 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 지진을 경험한 네팔인 15명을 대상으로 지진으로 인해 일어난 심리사회적 변화와 지진 외상 후 성장 요인 탐색을 위한 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 그리고 그 내용을 합의적질적분석(Consensual Qualitative Research: CQR) 방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 지진의 경험으로는 긍정적 변화와 부정적 변화로 구분되었는데, 긍정적 변화는 내적인 변화와 사회적 변화로 분류되었고 부정적 변화는 정서, 신체, 사회, 행동적 변화로 분류되었다. 또한 지진 관련 외상 후 성장 요인으로는 개인적 요인과 환경적 요인으로 구분되었는데 개인적 요인은 몰입과 신앙으로, 환경적 요인은 타인의 공감과 사회적 지지로 분류되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 네팔인들의 지진경험을 통해 자연재해로 인해 심리적인 괴로움을 가지고 있는 사람들을 어떻게 도울 수 있는지, 그들의 트라우마 극복과 외상 후 성장을 위해 심리치료 및 재활상담이 해야 할 역할에 대한 시사점을 제공하고 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this present study was to explore the earthquake experience of Nepalese citizens and to identify factors that successfully facilitate overcoming earthquake trauma resulting in post-traumatic growth. For this aim, participants included 15 Nepalese earthquake survivors were interviewed; data was analyzed via Consensual Qualitative Research (CQR) Method. Positive changes included both internal and social factors, while negative changes included emotional, physical, social, and behavioral factors. Factors that facilitated post-trauma growth included flow, religious beliefs, and environmental factors such as empathy and social support. Based on these findings, suggestions for professional rehabilitation educators and counselors working with clients who have experienced similar trauma are discussed.
