<천당노래>를 통해 본 조선 후기 평민 여성의 종교 인식

Abstract

This article highlights the religious perception of commoner women in the late Joseon Dynasty, focusing on "Cheondang Song". "Cheondang Song" is a song expressed by defending the Catholic faith despite the social oppression they suffered, symbolizing religious strength and maintenance of beliefs. This song is an important material that gives us a glimpse of how they formed and maintained their religious identity in line with the political and social challenges faced by Asians at the time. This article analyzes through mutual text comparison with "Cheondang Road" by CheondangJikro, the doctrine of creating "Cheondang Song", and explores the effect of this song on the religious perception and faith practice of commoner women in the late Joseon Dynasty. Furthermore, by investigating how "Cheondang Song" was spread and interpreted through the genre of lyrics in a social context, the effect of this process on the formation of a sense of belonging and community among Catholics in the late Joseon Dynasty was identified. This study is expected to provide an in-depth understanding of the religious identity and perception of commoner women in the late Joseon Dynasty.
