Abstract
This study examines the factors that shape multicultural acceptance toward migrants in Jeonbuk Province, a region that reports the lowest levels of acceptance. Although this pattern is well documented, the underlying reasons remain unclear, highlighting the need for rigorous empirical analysis to inform more effective policy responses. Using data from the Multicultural Acceptance Survey, the study analyzes a range of individual characteristics and attitudinal factors related to perceptions of immigrants. The findings show that, while several variables were not statistically significant, various personal attributes still contribute meaningfully to shaping attitudes toward foreign residents. In line with established theoretical perspectives, gender, age, and occupation emerged as primary determinants of group differences. Additional differences by education and income were also observed, though these effects were not statistically significant. As earlier studies suggest, attitudes toward multiculturalism differ substantially across demographic groups, indicating the need for more targeted and tailored policy measures. Overall, the results provide useful insights for strengthening multicultural policy initiatives designed to promote social inclusion in Jeonbuk Province.
