한국판 양가적 연령주의 척도 개발 및 타당화

초록

본 연구에서는 노인에 대한 적대적 연령주의와 온정적 연령주의를 측정할 수 있는 ‘한국판 양가적 연령주의 척도’(Korean Ambivalent Ageism Scale; KAAS)를 개발하고 타당화하였다. 이를 위해, 일반 성인들을 대상으로 초점질문을 포함한 설문을 진행하여 62개의 핵심 진술문을 도출하였고, 자체 검토와 내용 타당도 평정을 거쳐 49개의 예비문항을 개발하였다. 이후 일반 성인을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 통해 자료를 수집하여 탐색적 요인분석과 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, KAAS는 2요인, 37문항으로 구성된 것을 확인하였다. KAAS의 두 가지 요인은 ‘온정적 연령주의’와 ‘적대적 연령주의’로 명명하였다. 또한 KAAS의 수렴 타당도를 확인하기 위하여 기존의 양가적 연령주의 척도(Ambivalent Ageism Scale; AAS)를 사용하였고, 준거타당도를 확인하기 위하여 노인차별주의 척도(Fraboni Scale of Ageism; FSA), 노화불안척도(Anxiety About Aging Scale: AAS), 노인에 대한 태도 척도(Semantic Differential Scale; SDS)를 사용하였다. 그 결과, 예상된 방향으로 수렴 타당도와 준거 타당도 모두 본 척도와 유의한 수준의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 KAAS의 상담에 대한 시사점 그리고 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the ‘Korean Ambivalent Ageism Scale’(KAAS), an instrument to measure attitudes of hostility and benevolence toward older adults. A survey with focus questions was conducted among general adults to derive 62 core statements, leading to the development of 49 preliminary items through self-review and evaluation of content validity. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were then conducted, resulting in a 37-item scale across two factors: 'benevolent ageism' and 'hostile ageism' The convergent validity of the scale was established through comparison with the existing Ambivalent Ageism Scale (AAS) while its concurrent validity was observed through comparison with the Fraboni Scale of Ageism (FSA), the Anxiety About Aging Scale (AAS), and the Semantic Differential Scale (SDS). Implications and limitations of the study were discussed.
