Abstract
In this article entitled “The Slave” : the Soap Opera that reflected Thai Wisdoms, Language, and Thai-ness, the author would like to discuss a TV drama which had enjoyed popularity both of the present version or the previous ones. The article was aimed at presenting the values and beauty of the drama from a certain perspective besides the fun and entertainment. The Slave had opened for the audience to learn the life stories and values embedded in the conservation, characters, settings, and the likes all of which reflected way of life of the people and conditions of the society in the past. The drama showed details of tradition and cultures in various settings and situations such as handicraft, food, dressing, language, government and administration, social class, slavery in the society, for example. The first issue to be focused on is the wisdom and language related to Thai house. The second issue is the wisdom and language of the Thai expression related to the house and the home. These two issues are inter-related through which learners of Thai as a foreign language or even Thais could learn about Thai customs, tradition, culture, beliefs, and wisdoms embedded in Thai language.
