한의과대학에서 죽음학 교육 필요성에 대한 인식조사 및 교과목 설계

죽음학 수업이 최근 한국에서도 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있고, 의과대학에서도 죽음학과 관련된 강 의가 개설되어 진행 중이다. 한의과대학에서는 의료윤리 과목 내에서 죽음과 관련된 윤리 문제 등의 학 습성과를 설정하고 있지만, 죽음학을 주제로 하는 과목은 개설되어 있지 않은 실정이다. 이에 본 연구 에서는 한의과대학 교수, 졸업생, 학생들을 대상으로 죽음의 인식이나 죽음교육 인식 및 요구에 대한 내용을 바탕으로 설문 조사를 진행하였다. 설문 조사 결과 죽음을 가깝게 인식하고 있었고, 죽음교육이 필요하다고 응답하는 비율이 높았다. 또한 죽음교육이 필요한 이유에 대해서는 환자의 죽음에 대한 대 처, 자신과의 대면 등의 답변이 있었고, 죽음교육에서 다루어야 할 중요한 주제는 의료인으로서 임상 에서 죽음 맞이, 죽음을 통한 삶의 태도·방식에 대한 교육 등이라고 보았다. 이러한 설문 결과를 토대 로 의과대학 죽음교육 현황, 한의학교육 자문 및 관련 저서, 논문을 검토 및 참조하여 한의과대학에서 진행할 수 있는 한 학기 분량의 죽음교육 수업계획서를 제안하였다. 본 죽음학 수업 제언이 한의과대학 교육과정에 도움이 되기를 바라며, 후속 연구들이 진행되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
This article reports on a survey that was conducted on students and professors at a college of Korean medicine on attitudes toward death and the need for death education. Survey results show a high demand among participants for death education, including education about facing death in clinical practice as a medical professional. In light of the results of this survey, we propose a semester-long death education course and hope that this recommendation will be helpful for implementing and developing death education at medical schools of Korean medicine.
