성격이란 사람들이 일상생활 속에서 자신이나 타인을 지각하는 방식이다. 실제 생활 속에서 경험하는 성격의 주관성을 탐색하기 위해 Q 방법론이 적용되었다. 이때 Q 샘플은 빅 파이브의 다섯 가지 성격 특성에 기초한 80개의 행동 및 태도 문항들이며, Q 분석을 통해 다섯 가지 요인이 추출되었다. 다섯 가지 요인은 한국 사람들이 자신의 성격을 인식하는 다섯 가지 성격 유형으로 리얼리스트, 로맨티스트, 휴머니스트, 아이디얼리스트, 그리고 에이전트로 명명되었다. 우리 한국 사람들이 자신을 인식하는 주관성은 곧 우리가 일상생활에서 사용하는 성격에 대한 표현들이었다. 각 주관성 요인을 대표하는 행동 및 태도 문항들은 각 성격 유형에 대한 심리적 의미를 표상하였다. 본 연구는, 우리가 일상생활 속에서 자신이나 타인의 성격을 파악할 때에 빅 파이브의 다섯 가지 성격 특성 각각에 고른 가중치를 부여하여 판단하기보다는 그 특성들 중 그 사람을 뚜렷이 드러내는 한두 가지 특성에 준거하여 판단한다는 것을 밝혀내었다. 성격을 파악할 때에도 이들 성격 특성들에 대한 주관적 인식이 작동한다는 뜻이다. 본 연구를 통해 도출된 다섯 가지 성격 유형 각각은 그 유형들만의 준거점이라는 주관성이 존재한다.
Abstract
The personality in real life is emerged when we perceive ourselves. Q methodology was used to investigate the subjectivity of personality in daily context. Based on Big Five personality factors, 80 behavior and attitude statements were derived for Q samples. From the Q analysis, 5 factors were identified. They were interpreted as implying five personality types in Korean: Realist, Romantics, Humanist, Idealist and Agent. The subjectivity that we perceive ourselves were the expression of personalities we use in everyday life. The behavior and attitudes statements in each subjectivity factor represent the psychological meanings of each personality types. This study showed that we don’t grasp one’s personality based on the five traits of Big Five equally. However, one of them was a main feature to characterize ourselves. The personalities of our self were subjectivity of our perceptions on theses personality traits. One of those Big Five of personality was used as a reference point to perceive our personality. Five personality types from this study specifically had their own reference subjectivities.
