Abstract
Psy’s “Gangnam Style” is becoming a sensation all over the world. Since releasing the video on July 15, “Gangnam Style” has spread rapidly via YouTube, it took only 2 months for the song to reach 170 million, the shortest time to reach the milestone in YouTube history. Moreover, Psy has experienced exceptional record that the song has not only made it to No. 1 in the US iTunes Top Songs chart but also in 18 other countries and he is the first ever Korean pop artist who received this much media attention globally, as well as ranking No. 1 on multiple music charts. In this study, using a Q methodology, perception factors for the “Gangnam Style” and character for residents in the U. S. A. could be found. As a result, the study found three factors; ‘The Humor and Unique’, ‘The Ease and Catchiness’, and ‘The Plain Folks’.
