Platon은 동굴의 비유를 통해서 전환을 통한 삶의 전체적인 변화를 이야기하였다. 이 논문에서는 전환의 과정이 인간의 성장을 가져온다는 점에 착안해서 전환이 교육으로 이해될 수 있는지를 검토하였다. 전환으로서의 교육은 내 안에 간직되어 있는 어떤 가능성의 실현이나 성장으로서의 교육이 아니다. 내가 생각하지 못하고 알지 못했던 어떤 것이 타자의 외적 강요에 의해서 전환 안에서 성취된다. 전환을 통한 변화는 이 전과 전체적으로 대비되는 변화이며, 나의 내면과 삶 전체에 걸친 포괄적인 변화이다. 운명적인 전환 안에서 나의 사람됨과 삶 전체가 변화된다. 전환을 통해서 우리는 만드는 교육이나 기르는 교육과 대비되는 비연속적인 형식의 교육을 확인할 수 있다.
Abstract
Educational Meaning of TurningYun, Jae-Heung(Korea Nazarene University)Plato talked about the total change in life through the metaphor of cave. In this article, whether turning can be understood as an education or not, because the procedure of turning rouses the growth of humanity, is examined. Human life has a possibility of dramatic change like in metaphor of cave. Somethings that we neither intend nor expect stop our past life and get a new life started. They let us out of our past selves and turn into totally new selves. Education as turning is not an education as realization of one's potential, nor as one's growth. Somethings that I could neither think of nor know are realized in turning by others' enforcement. Change caused by turning is a change totally contrasted with the past and comprehensive all over my life and myself. Both my humanity and life are changed in destined turning. Education in inconsecutive forms is confirmed as contrasted with education as making and as raising, by means of turning. Education as turning has a meaning where inner value and whole personality become an issue .Therefore it has a great significance in Korean education that concentrates on the reinforcement of competitive power by improving technology and speciality.
