초록

This study aims to trace on activities of buddhist Masters of Sakulsanmoon's Budddhism sect(闍崛山門) in the period of ealry Koryo dynasty. Meanwhile the lack of historical documents on Moks makes it difficult for us to study on their religeous thought as well as their actvities. On examining the historical documents available regarding them, one may easily find that their activities were mainly connected on existences and aspects of the contemporary Buddhism. They were leaders of Buddhist in early Koryo dynanasty such as Yeocheol(如哲), Dosun(道詵), Yanggyeong(讓景), Seocho(釋超), Younghyun(領賢), Damjin(曇眞), Tanyeon(坦然) etc. They were also disciples of Haengjeok(行寂) and Gaecheok(開淸). One of them, Bumill(梵日) had founded Sakulsanmoon's Budddhism sect(闍崛山門) that was consisted of Buddhist Masters. Because They had done buddhist activities in Gaegyeong(開京) and Namkyeong(南京), Damjin(曇眞), his disciple Tanyeon(坦然) was appointed National Preceptor(國師) and Royal Preceptor(王師) respectively. Since Choeung(祖應), a central place of activities of Sakulsanmoon's Budddhism sect(闍崛山門) was Yongmoonsa(龍門寺) in Yecheon(예천), but Yeondam(淵湛) was gone into exile by the Millitary Government. Therefore Sakulsanmoon's Budddhism sect(闍崛山門) was hard to cope with the situation. Fortunately, Master Chinul had succeeded to Sakulsanmoon's Budddhism sect(闍崛山門). In conclusion, Buddhist monks of Sakulsanmoon's Budddhism sect(闍崛山門) had taken the lead among Koryo's Budddhim sects.
