본 연구에서는 운율경계와 자음이 국어 모음의 길이에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고 음성합성을 위해 모음의 길이를 예측하는 길이예측 모델을 개발하였다. 국어의 모음에 미치는 환경적 변수 가운데 가장 영향력이 큰 것은 어구경계 말 환경이고, 어구경계 초 환경도 모음의 길이 변화에 기여도가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 폐쇄음 앞, 비음 앞, 마찰음 앞, 양음절 앞, 유음 앞에서 모음의 길이 변화가 유의미하게 나타났고, 격음이 주변 모음의 길이변화에 미치는 영향도 컸으며, 유성음이 모음의 길이 변화에 미치는 영향도 있었다. 전후 자음의 조음 위치가 모음의 길이 변화에 미치는 영향은 유의미하지 못했다.또 본 연구에서는 기존의 연구와는 달리 환경적 변수에 따라 개별 모음의 길이를 예측할 수 있는 길이예측모델을 개발하였다. 이러한 형식화를 통해 실제 음성합성에 쓰일 수 있는 운율 모델 중 한 모듈을 구축할 수 있었으며, 자연스러운 국어 합성음을 생성해 내는 데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This paper examined the contextual effects on vowel duration in artificial carrier phrase sentences of Korean and built a model of vowel duration for speech synthesis based on the analysis of 1,054 syllables annotated for their segmental and suprasegmental contexts. The context was encoded as a set of 27 factors for the vowel in question. Through the use of an automated search and error minimization procedure, this paper estimated the parameters of a nine-factor model which explains over 80% of the variance in vowel duration in the speech data. It was found that the manner of surrounding consonants had a more significant effect on the duration of vowels than their place of articulation. The largest lengthening context was when the vowel was in phrase-final position. Some comparisons were carried out between the actual vowel durations and the predicted durations according to the timing model of Korean vowels. The fit with the speech data was quite good.
