Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing the depression in women workers with diabetes mellitus. Data from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES) were used. 299 women workers with diabetes mellitus who were ≥19 years of age were enrolled (61.74±0.73years), and the level of depression was measured using the PHQ-9. Data were analyzed by complex linear regression with SPSS/WIN 23.0. The regression analysis revealed that lower household income, occupations in service and sales, self-employed or employer status were associated with higher levels of depression. Additionally, a HbA1C level below 6.5%, high perceived stress, subject body image as thin, smoker, engaging in walking activities for less than 10 minutes a week, and subject health state as poor were all linked to increased depression levels. Therefore, an individualized depression management program tailored to the health habits and working environment of women workers with diabetes, as well as a systematic management and support system by the government and local communities, should be established.
