이 연구는 생애과정에서 자녀의 출산과 성장에 따른 부모됨의 변화가 여성과 남성의 무급노동시간에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 여성가족패널 1차-3차년도 자료를 이용하여 고정효과분석을 하였다. 연구 결과 부모됨의 변화는 여성과 남성의 무급노동시간에 다른방식으로 영향을 미쳤다. 첫째, 자녀 출산은 요일에 상관없이 여성의 무급노동시간의 증가에유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 반면 남성에게는 출산이 평일의 무급노동시간에는 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았으며 주말의 무급노동시간 증가에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 마지막 자녀가 학령기가 되는 미취학 자녀에서 취학자녀로의 변화는 여성의 무급노동시간을 감소하는데 유의미한 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 마지막 자녀가 성인자녀로 성장하는 취학자녀에서 성인자녀로의 변화는 여성의 평일의 무급노동시간감소에만 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 여성과 달리 남성의 경우 미취학 자녀에서 취학자녀로의 변화와 취학자녀에서 성인자녀로의 변화는 토요일에는 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나 유급노동과 관련된 변수가 투입되자 유의미한 효과는 사라졌다. 따라서 생애과정에서 부모됨의 변화는 무급노동시간의 변화에 성별로 다르게 작용한다는 것을 확인했다. 즉, 부모됨의 변화는 여성의무급노동에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인인 반면, 남성은 여성에 비해 부모됨의 변화로 인한무급노동시간의 변화가 크지 않았다. 결국 부모됨의 변화는 무급노동시간의 젠더화를 강화하는 요인으로 작용함을 알 수 있다.
Abstract
This study is an analysis of influence changes parents experience through childbirth and growth on hours of unpaid labour of men and women. To do this, resources from women family panels from the first to the third years as well as fixed effect model have been used. As a result of the study, the changes caused by becoming parent have influences on hours of unpaid labour of men and women in different ways. Firstly, for women childbirth had a meaningful influence on increase in hours of unpaid labour regardless of days of week. On the other hand, for men this has no meaningful influence on hours of unpaid labour on weekdays but has on increase of hours of unpaid labour on weekends. Secondly, the changes caused by the youngest child going to school for the first time have meaningful influences on decrease of hours of unpaid labour for women. However the changes caused by the youngest child leaving school into adulthood have meaningful influence on decrease of hours of unpaid labour on weekdays. Thirdly, for men the changes caused by the youngest child going to school for the first time and leaving school have meaningful influence on decrease of hours of unpaid labour on Saturday. Thus we understand that the changes in parental role work as main factors to intensify gender difference in hours of unpaid labour as the changes have different influences on men and women.
