Abstract
This study examined the effect of the motivation for participation in retirement preparation programs of active seniors on their educational satisfaction and behavioral intentions, and whether social capital plays a significant moderating role in the relationship between the motivation for participation, educational satisfaction, and behavioral intentions. To this end, a research model was established by dividing the motivation for participation into three factors: learning orientation, activity orientation, and goal orientation, and social capital into three factors: network, interpersonal trust, and social norms. A survey was conducted on a total of 266 active seniors. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, learning orientation, activity orientation, and goal orientation were found to have a positive effect on educational satisfaction, and goal orientation was found to have a positive effect on behavioral intentions. Second, educational satisfaction was found to have a significant positive effect on behavioral intentions. Finally, it was confirmed that social capital had a significant moderating effect in some relationships between the motivation for participation in retirement preparation programs, educational satisfaction, and behavioral intentions. This study is expected to provide significant implications for establishing strategic directions regarding the importance of participant motivation and the potential use of social capital in developing retirement preparation programs and establishing policies.
