본 연구에서는 현재 한국사회에서 청년들과 그들의 부모 간에 의존과 개입의 차원에서 어떠한 상호작용이 일어나고 있는지, 군집분석을 통해 상호작용의 유형들을 파악하고자 하였으며, 또 상호작용의 유형에 따라 성인기 이행과 관련하여 어떠한 특성들이 나타나는지 살펴보았다. 연구를 위해 25-34세 수도권 거주 남녀 374명에 대해 2013년에 이루어진 설문조사자료를 분석하였다. 우선 부모에 대한 의존, 부모의 개입, 상호의존, 이와 관련된 평가적 반응등 부모와의 상호작용에서의 경험과 관련된 35개의 문항을 사용하여 군집분석을 실시하였다. 군집분석 결과, 3개의 군집이 의미있게 구별되었는데, 이들을 “분리형”, “자발적 의존형”, “개입적 의존형”으로 명명하였다. 상호작용유형에 따라 성인기 이행과정의 특성의 차이가 나타나는지를 분석한 결과 부모의 성별과 자녀의 성별에 따라 유형별 사례 분포도 다르게 나타났다. 한국적 상황에서는 의존과 개입 차원의 상호작용이 지니는 의미가 성별의 맥락에 따라다르게 해석될 수 있으며, 따라서 부모의 지원과 개입이 성인기 이행에 미치는 효과의 논의에서 성별이 중요한 요인으로 다루어져다 한다는 점을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study explores the interaction patterns between young men and women in transition to adulthood and their parents. The dimension of parental support/involvement and child's dependence is the key aspect of the interaction pattern being explored. A set of structured questionnaire data based on a survey conducted in 2013 to 374 young men and women living in the metropolitan Seoul area was used for the study. As a first step, a cluster anlysis was performed with 35 questionnaire items that measure the levels of parental support and involvement in a variety of settings, children's reliance on parental support and involvement, children's emotional and evaluative responses towards parental behavior, and the perceived parental emotional and evaluative responses towards the child' s behavior. Three groups with diverging patterns of interaction were identified, and labeled independent, spontaneous-dependent, and intrusive-dependent. Then how various attributes of the men and women in transition to adulthood correlate with different patterns of interaction was analysed. Gender, both of parents and of child affected how the interaction pattern correlated with those attributes.
