PD저널리즘 프로그램 영상구성의 객관성에 관한 연구

A study on the objectivity of image composition in PD journalism program

초록

디지털 미디어의 사회적 중요성이 확산되고 있는 상황에서도 PD저널리즘 프로그램의 탐사보도 기능은 사회적으로 중요한 기능을 수행하고 있다. 하지만 PD저널리즘 프로그램은 저널리즘적 가치구현보다는 주관적 진실추구의 성격이 강하기 때문에 공정성의 비판을 받게된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 디지털시대에도 중요한 저널리즘 기능을 수행하는 PD저널리즘 프로그램의 영상구성 방식의 객관성에 대한 분석을 통해, PD저널리즘 프로그램이 내용적 심층성과 비판성을 추구하면서도 형식적인 공정성을 추구할 수 있는 방안을 모색해 보았다. 이를 위해 지상파 3사의 대표적인 PD저널리즘 프로그램인 <추적 60분>, <PD수첩>, <그것이 알고 싶다>의 주제에 대한 분석과 영상구성방식에 대한 분석을 실시했다. 분석결과 몰래카메라의 사용빈도는 많지 않았지만 부정·부패폭로와 제도와 사회감시영역에서 사용빈도가 높았다. 모자이크와 음성변조, 배경음악 및 효과음의 경우 사용빈도가 많았다. 재연화면 사용의 경우 전체적 사용빈도는 많지 않았지만, <그것이 알고 싶다>의 경우 사용빈도가 많았다. 주제별로는 제도와 사회감시 영역이 높은 비중을 차지했고, 장르별로는 사회·사건비중이 높았다. 종합적으로 평가해 보자면 PD저널리즘 프로그램은 주제적 측면에서는 탐사저널리즘에 충실했지만, 인터뷰 대상자에 대한 익명처리 부분이 지나치게 많고, 감성적 자극을 줄 수 있는 영상효과를 사용함으로써, 객관적 보도영상 구성수칙과는 차이를 보이고 있었다.

Abstract

Although the importance of digital media is being disseminated, the function of investigative reporting of PD journalism program plays a key role in our society. Therefore, this study analyzes the objectivity of image composition method which performs an important journalism function in the digital age. By doing the analysis, this study tries to find plans in which PD journalism program could pursue depth and criticism in content and, at the same time, fairness in form. For the purpose, the analysis was conducted on image composition method and main subject for the three representative PD journalism programs of three television networks: <KBS In Depth 60 Minutes>, <MBC PD Diary> and <SBS I want to know it>. The results showed that the frequency of using candid camera was not high, but the frequency of corruption disclosure and public supervision was high. Also the use frequency of the mosaic, voice variation techniques, background music and sound effects were used plentifully. In case of using reenactment technique, <SBS I want to know it> was relatively high in frequency. In terms of main subject, the category of system and public watch had relatively high importance. In terms of genre, the ratio of society and incident was high, which is different from the style of traditional reporting. Overall, this study found that PD journalism program in Korea showed some differences with the formation rule of objective reporting image, by applying interviewee anonymity too much and using visual effect that could give emotional stimulus.
