Abstract

This study aims at figuring out both the effect of trauma on journalists’ health and the effect of COVID-19 related difficulties on journalists’ burnout. It also aims at finding out moderating effects of organizational support and autonomy on the two previously mentioned relationships. For these purposes, sample of 397 journalists who had had traumatic experience was used. Based on the sample analysis, trauma had negative effect on journalist’s health. And both organizational support and autonomy had moderating effect on the relationship respectively. Also, difficulties at work generated by pandemic situation had positive effect on journalist’s burnout. Here only organizational support, not autonomy had moderating effect on the relationship. Thus it can be concluded that in an uncontrollable situation like pandemic, organizational support rather than personal resource(autonomy) can be more effective. Whereas when it comes to personal wellbeing(health), personal resource(autonomy) as well as work-related resource(organizational support) have positive effect.
