Objective This study aimed to analyze the trends of Korean traditional medicine for treating children and adolescents with spinal scoliosis Methods We searched clinical studies that used Korean medicine in children and adolescents with spinal scoliosis by using four online databases: ‘Korean Studies Information Service System,’ ‘Earticle,’ ‘Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System’, and ‘China National Knowledge Infrastructure.’ We used keywords such as ‘scoliosis,’ ‘'Chinese medicine,' 'herbal,' 'traditional,' 'moxibustion,' 'acupuncture,' and ‘Chuna.' We selected 34 studies and analyzed data such as publication year, study type, number of study participants, treatment method, treatment period, outcome measures, results, and adverse effects. Results Thirty-four studies were selected with 10 case reports, 3 case series, and 21 randomized controlled clinical trials. More than half of the studies used exercise therapy, acupuncture, and Chuna therapy. Cobb's angle was used in almost all studies with 30 (88.2%). In addition, effectiveness, visual analog scale, correctability, and Scoliosis Research society-22 (SRS-22) were frequently used. Conclusions These findings suggest that Korean Medicines can effectively treat scoliosis in children and adolescents. This study provides basic data for future clinical applications on the use of Korean medicine in the treatment of scoliosis.
