초록

Emotional labor is an important aspect of fulfilling the emotional requirements of a job and contributes to engaging employees in the job task. However, its antecedents and how perceived social support and job autonomy lead to employees’ job satisfaction need to be given more attention. We examined how emotional states associated with emotional labor(that is, congruent emotional states and discordant emotional states) mediate the relationship between perceived social support and job satisfaction in a Korean context. In studying the mediating effects of emotional states associated with emotional labor, we also tested the conditional moderating effects of job autonomy in local government organizations. The findings show that the mediating effect of congruent states of emotional labor between perceived social support and job satisfaction are strengthened with high levels of job autonomy. Several theoretical and practical implications are given to the public personnel management.
