영화 감상 에세이, 대학생들은 무엇을 어떻게 쓰고 있나

영화는 대학 글쓰기 강좌에서 자주 활용되는 글감이다. 이 글은 대학 글쓰기수업 현장에서 학생들이 쓴 글을 검토하고 분석함으로써 영화 감상 에세이라는유형의 특징을 파악하고자 하는 시도이다. 감상 에세이의 한 종류인 영화 감상에세이는 학생이 스스로 원하는 영화를 선택하고 형식과 내용을 결정해 자유롭게써내려가는 글이다. 검토 결과 영화 감상 에세이는 감상 중심의 글과 성찰 중심의 글로ㆍ크게 구분되었다. 또한 두 유형의 글이 비슷한 비중으로 나타난다는것, 영화를 보지 않는 독자 또한 염두에 두고 쓰인다는 것, 글쓴이의 전공이나관심사가 반영된다는 것, 독특한 형식이 시도된다는 것 등의 특징을 파악할 수있었다.
Abstract
Movie is one of the most popular writing themes in college writingcourses. This paper analyzes 17 movie essays, which were producedwithout any guideline from lecturers. Students’ movie essays arecategorized into two groups; one which focuses on movie itself, andanother which goes beyond movie, connecting it with students’ lifeexperiences and thoughts. These two categories, interestingly, coincideswith suggestions of previous studies. Number of essays of eachcategory is almost same. Movie essays reflect students’ academicmajor and personal interest, resulting in various viewpoints andcreative writing constructions.
