Abstract

Further Review on Lee In-jik －Centering on <Lee In-jik’s action> reported by Government affairs bureau and the new research data collected by <Tokyo political school magazine>－ Taijiri Hiroyuki Some materials collected by the Tokyo Political School Magazine or research achievements in recent political history lead to a developmental research on at what level the unity between the double structure of Lee, Injik’s work “Silver World” consisting of ‘the public consciousness & anti- feudalism’in the first half part, and ‘logic of pro-Japanese cabinet’ in the second half part, forms an organic integration. It might be assumed that the two pictures of the world including the modern Europe’s ‘Narrative on Progress in History in the first half part represented by the slogan ‘From oppression to the society of co-existence’ advocated by the then school of enlightenment, and the Asianism–based ‘Narrative on the Late-coming modern period’ in the second-half part of the work ‘Silver World’ were not only inevitable epic theories in an effort for them to win a recognition as the establishment in colonial system of the modern period but also an expression of social aspiration for their next generation to restore their lost sovereignty. In the formation process of Imperialist Japan, the two streams of ‘Westernization’ and ‘Traditional Conservatism’[‘Tiding over the modern period’] was progressing simultaneously. The path the modern Joseon had followed can be placed into the conflicts between these two streams.
