本稿는 역사서와 불경, 천문학 자료를 통해 ‘二日竝現’의 실체를 파악하고, 그를 단서로 「兜率歌」의 성격을 살폈다. 「도솔가」의 ‘이일병현’은 왕과 관계된 상징이거나 점성술적 용어가 아니라 실재한 천문현상인 幻日, 해무리를 기록한 것이다. 우리가 「도솔가」의 歌唱 背景을 논하고, 작품을 분석하면서 당시 史官․日官들의 의견을 비판없이 수용하여 ‘이일병현’을 예언적 기록으로 보고, 훗날의 정치적 대립과 연관짓는 것은 타당하지 않다. 「도솔가」는 1) 緣僧을 통해 자연의 일시적 惡緣을 없애는 과정을 보이고, 2) 눈 앞의 異變을 해결할 주체로 ‘彌勒’을 상정하고, 緣僧에게 散花와 歌唱을 하게 함으로써 다가올 재앙을 미연에 방지하려는 護國 祈願을 담고, 3) 꽃을 통해 신라에 彌勒下生의 理想國土를 구현하려는 차원높은 종교적 신념을 드러낸 작품이다.
Abstract
The Meaning Analysis of ‘Two Suns’ & Do-sol-ga[兜率歌] Hwang, Byong-ik The existing opinion which stated “As there can be two suns in the sky from rational thoughts, the terms, two suns appearing in the sky weren't real facts but symbolic meanings or astrological ones” must be corrected. It's reason is that many records coincide with actual astronomical phenomena such as parhelion and sun halo-caused by ice crystals reflecting sunshine, a point of contact between a halo inside and around the sun shining much more brightly and shows a broad of spectrum. Therefore, two suns in Do-sol-ga[兜率歌] must have described these phenomena. Second, medieval men worried that the changes of heavenly bodies might lead to those of human lives. As a result, extraordinary phenomena in the heavens made kings introspect their acts of rules, be reflect on themselves in a pious manner. Third, 1) There is “日官 invites a monk who has karma and ask him to practice charity with flowers” in Do-sol-ga[兜率歌]. The most noticeable parts in these words are a monk who has karma. 2) The author's dearest wish that unifies estrangement between author and Maitreya, earth and heaven by means of intermediate flowers is presented in Do-sol-ga[兜率歌]. This work of art holds high-level religious belief that the ideal land living with Maitreya will be built in Shilla through spiritual sympathy with Maitreya by virtue of flowers and there will be no more calamity like two suns in the sky.
