「雍固執傳」과 ‘自我 同一性’ 문제

Abstract

This study intends to investigate the problem of self-identity in Ongojibjun. Until now, this text has been given relatively a fewer attention than other texts, because it was low-estimated as a kind of pre-novel close to folk tale. However, in this study I suggested that Ongojibjun should be regarded as the text issuing contemporary problem, the self-identity. What the problem of self-identity is as follows. Man is continuously changing not also in his mental but physical aspects ever since he was born. Thinking of someone as a boy and old man, 'they' are absolutely same person even though there are definite differences between what they are, believe, intend, know, and desire. What is it makes us consider ‘them' as the same person over time? And what is the crucial point identifying oneself from others? In Ongojibjun the answers about these questions are the spirit, body, and memories in order of appearance, and these answers are the perfect same with them in philosophical history. We must pay attention that the cloned-Ongojib has won the case for identifying original person against the real-Ongojib because of the former's correct and detailed memories. Even though that winning was just temporal, it is possible to think of human cloning with not only same physical body but also same memories. In conclusion of this study, I proposed that Ongojibjun should be regarded as a text with a contemporary value to read, in terms of examination on the contemporary issues.
