형용사 ‘싸다’의 統辭ㆍ意味에 대한 史的 考察

Abstract

I considered in the process and cause of syntactic-semantic changes on an adjective “ssada” from a historical point of view in this paper. A change of “ssada” construction has been started in the late of 19th. A subject was qualified to human and it's behavior, and verbal noun has been used as a complement in the ‘NP-i NP-i ssada(NP이 NP이 싸다)' form. On the basis of its changes, ‘-a/ә(do) ssada(-아/어(도) 싸다)' construction has made an appearance in the beginning of 20th. And “ssada” construction's usage that had have gotten a function to judge purely value before has been enervated dramatically and “ssada” construction has been in use as idiomatic expression. “Ssada” that has been a polysemy originally has made a change of meaning in condition of one valency predicate in 19th. In my opinion, a synonymy clash of ‘ssada' and ‘bitssada' owing to loss of a relation in its word form and meaning has led to a meaning inversion of ‘ssada'. The change had an effect on ‘-a/ә(do) ssada(-아/어(도) 싸다)' construction and ‘-a/ә(do) ssada(-아/어(도) 싸다)' construction represented only the negative meaning.
