초록
Burkholderia cepacia JK11 isolated from lily bulb in South Korea, exhibits antifungal activity, siderophore production and phosphate solubilizing activity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the acute oral toxicity/pathogenicity, repeated-dose oral toxicity and acute dermal toxicity of JK11 in Sprague-Dawley rats, as organic agricultural material following the test guidelines of Rural Development Administration. There was no mortality and no clinical abnormal signs accompanied by normal weight gain after the oral or dermal administration of JK11. Also, no significant differences were observed in food and water consumption, gross pathological findings between the treated and control rats. Indeed, no microbial colonization was detected in feces, major organs and tissues after oral administration of JK11. It can be concluded from the above findings that JK11 was not toxic, infective or pathogenic in rats via oral and dermal route.
