Abstract
The purpose of this study was investigated the utility for Korean translation of the Childhood Health Assessment Questionnaire (K-CHAQ) through the examination of psychometric properties of this instrument in children with cerebral palsy. For this, CHAQ was translated to Korean according to guidelines for the process of cross-cultural adaptation. The K-CHAQ, Gross Motor Classification System (GMFCS), Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) was measured in 72 children with cerebral palsy. The participants was range of age from 6 to 16 years old. The data of 'not applicable' was low rate. The floor effect appeared in the subscale of Arising, and the floor effect and ceiling effect emerged in Waling. The subscale of Reach and Grip showed the floor effect and Hygiene and Activity displayed the ceiling effect. The Cronbach's coefficient alpha was good for the subscale of the K-CHAQ. The subscales of K-CHAQ have significant correlation with GMFCS and GMFM except of the visual analogue scale of pain. The K-CHAQ was considered in assessment of health status in children with cerebral palsy based on reliability and correlation with gross motor function. In further research, various reliabilities and validities of the K-CHAQ was examined for the increasement of utility in children with cerebral palsy.
