Abstract
Inclusive education is still a matter of controversy among educators. It is because inclusion of children with and without disabilities is closely related with the aspect of educational values as well as individual growth. However, we need to improve quality education as well as quantity education for children with disabilities in classroom. Inclusive education has not yet developed to a state of full inclusion in Korea. According to many reliable research findings, effective inclusion needs diverse factors. Among them, teacher factor has critical impact on the success of inclusive education. Inclusive education can be a success when cooperative work between special teachers and regular teachers occur within the school. Teaching methods and mediating tools, pre- and in-service teacher training on inclusion, teacher qualities and roles, etc. are also to be assured for the success. At this moment, inclusive education of disabled children is a global trend that are inevitable, and being implemented extensively in Korean schools. Education for children with diverse disabilities should be considered from the point of human rights, and this is connected with paradigm shift in our changing global society. Teaching profession is not an easy work that requires specific and professional knowledge. Special teachers' fundamental role is teaching children with disabilities directly, however, they also need to be ready to serve for the expansion of quality inclusion through their professional knowledge and skills.
