본 연구는 다문화가정의 자녀들이 급증한 상황에서 초등학교안에 다문화가정의 학생과 비다문화가정의 학생들이 서로에 대한 편견을 해소하고 관계를 향상시켜 나가도록 개입하는데 있어 이론적 틀이 될 수 있는 접촉이론의 유용성에 대해 알아보고 그 적용가능성을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 접촉이론에서는 특정 조건이 갖춰진 구조화된 상황에서 집단상호간에 이루어지는 접촉은 편견을 감소시킬 수 있다는 가설하에 동등한 지위, 집단상호간 협력, 친밀한 접촉, 학교의 지원 등의 기준을 제시하였고, 이러한 기준들이 학교에 적용될 때 학교의 통합이 가능하다고 보았다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 접촉이론의 유용성을 발견하고, 다문화가정의 학생들과 비다문화가정의 학생들이 공존하는 초등학교에 접촉이론이 주는 시사점을 파악하고 각 기준에 따른 실천적용의 가능성을 탐색하였다. 본 연구는 초등학교에서 다문화가정의 학생과 비다문화가정의 학생의 공존과 통합과 관련된 실질적인 이론의 부재속에서 다문화와 관련된 주요 이론의 하나인 접촉이론에 대해 탐색하고 초등학교에서의 실천 적용 가능성을 제시했다는데 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The number of children in the multicultural background who enter the elementary school has increased greatly in recent years. Multiculturalism has been getting more attention at school but there have been no theory to be applied to the multicultural school environment. This study aimed to explore the Contact theory for intergroup and to find the Usefulness and Applicability of Complexity Theory of Contact theory in elementary school. This article was to review Contact theory and four conditions that were very useful to explain intergroup prejudice and relation. The four conditions-equal status, intergroup cooperation, association, Supportive Norms- in Contact theory provided practical guidelines to intervene for elementary school in the multicultural environment. Hopefully, this study will contribute the extension of discussions and program development in elementary school.
