Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the value orientations towards vocational education of vocational high school teachers. For the study, researcher used the value orientations scale towards vocational education(Ma, 2004) which consisted of 7-point Likert-type 8 items, measuring four different value orientations towards vocational education including humanism, functionalism, new vocationalism, and radicalism. Five hundred seventy four out of 718 questionnaires were returned, of which 487 were used for analysis after data cleaning.Major findings of the study were as follows: ① Vocational high school teachers had value orientations towards vocational education based on new vocationalism and functionalism rather than humanism and radicalism. ② Four kinds of the value orientations towards vocational education were correlated significantly each other. ③ The value orientations towards vocational education were correlated with selected demographic variables including gender, age, year of teaching experience, teaching subject(vocational and general), and school types(agricultural, industrial, and commercial).
