로컬 서사를 통해 본 차이의 가능성 －삼지내마을의 슬로시티 인증과 문화적 재구성을 중심으로－

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine local possibilities through cultural reconstruction in accordance to globalization of villages, which are places of concrete lives, and in doing so, reveal local narratives which have been concealed beneath the unified macronarrative. For this purpose, this study examined the village cultural reconstruction surrounding the slow city certification of Samjinae village in Changpyong-myeon, Damyang-gun county, from the perspective of ‘who, why, what, and how’. At Samjinae village, culture is being restructured under the presentation of ‘slow city’ in the manner of resignifying ‘traditional’ to ‘slow’ with the world, local government and the village are competing with one another for the revitalization of local economy. However, this course of restructuring is less a natural radiation of village culture, but more aimed for cultural homogenization by way of accompanying works that manipulatively place in front and rear and omit or fabricate multi-layered culture of reality centering on ‘tourism’. Such manner of manipulative arrangement and restructuring of culture grounded on economic rationale engender economic exclusion and alienation and also impregnates different voices that oppose to homogenization within the village. Found repeatedly in the history of Samjinae village, these other voices that fend against homogenization have generated a space of difference from the village. In this regard, these difference voices surrounding slow city can be understood as the possibilities that enable the generation of space of difference from village and the foothold of local dynamics which will not be made prize of homogenization.
