본 논문에서는 가젤지역을 핵심 키워드로 내세워, 창업과 고용창출의 관계를 분석하고, 어떤 요인이 지역산업에서 고용창출에 기여하는지를 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 가젤지역은 최근 5년간 우리나라 지식기반산업 사업체수 증가분과 고용 증가분의 절반 가까이를 차지하고 있고, 그 비중도 점점 더 높아지는 추세를 보이고 있다. 둘째, 가젤지역은 제조업과 서비스업 간에 쌍방향 인과관계가 작용해, 제조업의 진입이 서비스업의 진입을 유발할 뿐 아니라, 서비스업의 진입도 제조업의 진입을 유발하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이에 반해 비가젤지역은 오직 제조업의 진입만이 서비스업의 진입을 유발하는 것으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 고용창출 결정요인에 관한 실증분석 결과, 인적자본, 지역사업 참여 여부, 가젤지역 여부, 첨단산업 여부, 특허증가율, 클러스터 형성 등이 고용창출에 플러스의 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다.
Abstract
This research paper analyzes Gazelle regions with the objective of identifying industries that contribute to job creation. The results are as follows. First, the Gazelle regions account for nearly half of the national total number of newly created firms and jobs in knowledge-based industries during the last 5 years, and the ratios are increasing rapidly. Second, the causality test shows that two-way causality is induced in the Gazelle regions. Third, by analyzing which factors have critical impact on regional jobs, this study identifies the factors as human capital, government projects on the regional level, dummy of Gazelle regions and knowledge-based industries, increasing rates of patents, etc.
