Abstract
Jeongeup-sa(井邑詞) is the song of the wife who waited her husband, a peddler, on the rock of the top of the near-by mountain. Jeongeup-sa reflected the history of the women＇s sufferings in ancient society. Because of the aesthetics of the reversal, Jeongeup-sa could be combined with Mugo(舞鼓) in the Chosun dynasty. The regional population of Jeongeup City perceive Jeongeup-sa as the symbol of the local culture and hold the Jeongeup-sa festival. Jeongeup-sa originated from the folk song and changed into the court poetry. The unhappy ending of the musical drama, Jeongeup-sa, distorted the historical fact. The conclusion of the story of Jeongeup-sa should be the happy ending. I believe that the love story of the husband and wife can specialize the Jeongeup-sa festival. And I believe that the Jeongeup-sa festival can be acknowledged as the world festival because of the theme of Jeongeup-sa.
