사설시조의 장형성(長型性)과 이행기 문학적 의의

Abstract
The goal of this paper is to reexamine on the significance of saseolsijo which is the typical genre of transitional period literature. For this, an analysis was undertaken of the length of saseolsijo. As a result of comparing the lengthening aspect of saseolsijo with that of hwimori-japga, the following facts were revealed. Firstly, by lengthening the second line, saseolsijo and hwimori-japga hint at epistemological movement toward an a priori metaphysics that seeks universal truth through a synthesis of individual experiences. Even though both maintain a 3-stage structure and a poetic closure, there was a prominent fetishist attitude in hwimori-japga. Secondly, by lengthening the second and last line, saseolsijo and hwimori-japga break a poetic closure which hints universal idea that synthesizes individual experiences. Instead, they put emphasis on uncertainty of experiences which reflect the confusion of identities of the charging group, especially the wage laborers and urban poor. But while saseolsijo fails to bring the present matters to a conclusion, hwimori-japga suggests new universal truth through narrative closure. The length of saseolsijo demonstrates the consciousness of transitional period that is located between the crisis of metaphysics of the middle ages and the reconstruction of universal idea in modern narrative genres.
